Weld Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing weld procedures
  • Reduce costs through continuous improvement activities that improve safety, quality and productivity
  • Work with Production Staff to improve weld capability for the company
  • Participate in project kickoffs for upcoming jobs and provide weld procedures
  • Develop weld schedules for recertification
  • Update job packages for the Production team
  • Analyze engineering designs for welding requirements
  • Plan, conduct, track and report welding engineering investigations
  • Investigate new developments in the field

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering (or related materials science field) is required, or
  • Fifteen years’ experience in welding including experience developing and qualifying welding procedures
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with other team members and company employees
  • Familiarity with MILSPEC Standards and Environmental Qualification Testing

  • While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • This position is performed in a traditional office and industrial environment, with some local travel between facilities.
