Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall execution of production specific to shipfitting.
Monitor and ensure overall safety and efficiency.
Maintain production schedule(s) and ensure adequate staffing.
Ensure product quality and support external customer interaction and satisfaction.
Develop and maintain continuous improvement and staff development policies.
Ensure accurate and timely internal and external (subcontractor) charging and approval.
Coordinate with production leadership, engineering, planning, purchasing, and quality on project specific requirements.
Monitor the receipt and issuance of applicable vendor and/or customer furnished material(s).
Coordinate with direct leadership on personnel hiring, disciplinary action, evaluations, transfers, promotions, and changes in compensation.
Maintain equipment in safe working condition and provide input and recommendations on replacements as needed.
Utilize Microsoft Office products as well as Adobe Acrobat to provide weekly estimates to complete for all WIP, to generate weekly and daily plans of action and milestones, and to effectively communicate with management, staff, vendors, and other internal and external team members.
Direct reports include production shipfitters and shipfitter leads.

Develop rapport and professional working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other internal and external team members.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to form strong relationships and communication channels across the organization.
Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively to both customers and staff.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Must be able to motivate staff and supporting team members proficiently and effectively.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent plus 10 years directly related production management and/or supervisory experience.
Technical, trade, and CVN new construction experience preferred.
Experience with Newport News Shipbuilding, Electric Boat, and/or other shipbuilding facilities preferred.
U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass and hold various background checks and security clearances.
Physical Demands
While performing these job duties, employees are routinely required to stand, walk, lift, climb, crawl, and sit. To use their hands and fingers to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to type or write. Employees are also required to be able to see, talk, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a traditional shipyard environment with local travel between facilities and project locations as required. Occasional travel outside of the local area may also be required in support of customers, vendors, suppliers, and other team members. Both overtime and the remote possibility for shift‐work exist.
