Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety first: Know your equipment, its condition, it’s load, and the risks to life and limb imposed by improper operation. Must be able
to remain calm under pressure. Know your surroundings and take direction from any one individual at a time.
Execute specific crane and rigging operations in‐yard as directed.
Participate in “Critical Lift Plan” reviews for specific current and upcoming critical lifts.
Maintain all equipment IAW manufacturer’s recommendations and in safe and certified working condition. Notify supervision of any
malfunction immediately.
Selects, installs, and uses cable, ropes, shackles, beam clamps, spreaders, strong backs, and other weight handling gear to attach, lift,
move and position heavy loads. Ensure product quality and support division teammates as needed or directed.
Ensure accurate and timely time charging and approval.
Coordinate with supervision and other C&R team members on project specific requirements and budgeted labor.
Participate in and provide weekly estimates to complete for all WIP milestones.
Must be able to effectively and respectfully communicate with management, teammates, customers, and suppliers.
Fairlead expects that operators, when idle, will dismount the crane and assist with rigging or other tasks as directed.
There is to be no eating, drinking, or smoking in the equipment. You must secure and dismount the equipment for needed breaks.

Must demonstrate professional, morally, and ethically sound behavior not only consistent with company policies but also in keeping
with a position requiring access to and the development of sensitive technical and financial data.
Develop rapport and professional working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as with vendors, suppliers,
subcontractors, and other internal and external team members.
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to form strong relationships and communication channels across the
organization.
Must remain respectful while communicating clearly, concisely, and persuasively to others.
Technical, trade, and CVN new construction experience preferred (but not required). Experience with Newport News Shipbuilding,
Electric Boat, and/or other shipbuilding facilities preferred (but not required).
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat products preferred (but not required).
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 or more years directly related steel production and erection experience.
U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass and hold various background checks and security clearances.
Active NCCCO Mobile Crane Operator (Telescopic Boom Cranes – Swing Cab) certification required for consideration.
Clean driving record – No CDL necessary (required for access to Fairlead vehicles as needed).
Physical Demands:
While performing these job duties, employees are routinely required to stand, walk, lift (up to 50 lbs.), carry, climb, crawl, and sit. To
use their hands and fingers to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to type or write. Employees are also required to be
able to see, talk, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
This position is performed in a traditional shipyard environment with local travel between facilities and project locations as required.
Occasional travel outside of the local area may also be required in support of customers, vendors, suppliers, and other team members.
Both overtime and the remote possibility for shiftwork exist.
