Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze customer specifications for key design requirements.
  • Analyze the applicability of various Military Specifications/Standards for new technology designs.
  • Develop drawings, sketches and 3D models using 2D/3D CAD software independently and under the supervision of the upper-level engineering team to support procurement, manufacturing, and integration activities.
  • Review some drawings and technical documentation for peers.
  • Provide timely manufacturing engineering support to resolve issues requiring technical guidance independently and reports to/collaborates with upper-level engineering team for more complex issues.
  • Create supplemental work instructions, and technical documentation to support engineering deliverables to internal and external customers.
  • Attend meetings and conferences on engineering and continuous improvement matters.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to solve some simple and some complex engineering design challenges.
  • Assist with on-site and off-site testing to support the qualification of equipment for use onboard Navy ships (Shock, Vibration, Electromagnetic Interference, and other Environmental tests) independently or with some support from the upper-level engineering team.
  • Apply design and manufacturing best practices to designs independently and under guidance from the upper-level engineering team.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • The following degrees in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or closely related academic field:
    • (MS)& 0-3 Years Relevant Experience

OR

    • (BS)& 3-6 Years Relevant Experience

OR

    • (AS)& 5-9 Years Relevant Experience

OR

    • Relevant Industry Experience of 7-11 Years

Basic Qualifications:

  • Intermediate understanding of mechanical engineering principles and proficient practical application.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D and 2D CAD software.
  • Must have an intermediate understanding of metalwork manufacturing processes (forming, welding, milling, etc.).
  • Intermediate understanding of material properties and selection (Steel, Aluminum, Stainless, Composites, etc).
  • Intermediate understanding of mechanical assembly (Tools, operations).
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with other team members, other departments, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and accept mentoring.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to communicate work progress against a given budget and/or due date.
  • Begin to provide personal budget requirements and completion date estimates for tasks.
  • Basic understanding of MIL qualification testing (Shock, Vibration, Environmental).

Exceptional Qualifications/Experiences:

  • Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD Software
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Software

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a manufacturing environment, with some local travel between facilities.
