Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the electrical design of various products for the military, primarily Navy, including: VFD’s, control panels, switchboards, and other custom enclosures independently and under the supervision of the upper-level engineering team.
  • Analyze customer specifications for key design requirements.
  • Analyze the applicability of various Military Specifications/Standards for new technology designs.
  • Assist with creating, and modifying, electrical schematics for new and existing electrical designs
  • Review some drawings and technical documentation for peers.
  • Work with other departments, such as programs, production, and quality, to provide timely technical solutions to production issues, and reduce bottlenecks independently and reports to/collaborates with upper-level engineering team for more complex issues.
  • Create supplemental work instructions, technical documentation, test procedures and more to support engineering deliverables to internal and external customers.
  • Attend meetings and conferences on engineering and continuous improvement matters.
  • Assist with the development of test procedures and other technical instructions and documentation to internal and external customers.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to solve some simple and some complex engineering design challenges.
  • Assist with on-site and off-site testing to support the qualification of equipment for use onboard Navy ships (Shock, Vibration, Electromagnetic Interference, and other Environmental tests) independently or with some support from the upper-level engineering team.
  • Provide timely field service engineering support to resolve customer issues requiring technical guidance via telephone, email or onsite visit.
  • Lead testing and troubleshooting efforts on new and commissioned products sometimes independently and sometimes with guidance from the upper-level engineering team.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing on completed equipment independently or with some guidance of the upper-level engineering team.

Education and Experience:

  • The following degrees in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or closely related academic field:
    • (MS)& 0-3 Years Relevant Experience

OR

  • (BS)& 3-6 Years Relevant Experience

OR

  • (AS)& 5-9 Years Relevant Experience

OR

  • Relevant Industry Experience of 7-11 Years

Basic Qualifications:

  • Intermediate understanding of electrical engineering principles and practical application.
  • Proficient in the use of 2D CAD software.
  • Intermediate understanding of electrical integration best practices
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with other team members, other departments, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to learn and accept mentoring
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to communicate work progress against a given budget and/or due date.
  • Begin to provide personal budget requirements and completion date estimates for tasks
  • Basic understanding of MIL qualification testing (Electromagnetic Interference, Power Quality)
  • Intermediate ability for software and/or Programming.
  • Intermediate understanding of programming languages (ladder, structured text, C, C++, etc.)
  • Intermediate understand of networking and various communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus/TCP, Profibus, CAN, Modbus, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of electrical simulation and analysis.
  • Proficient in technical writing.

Exceptional Qualifications/Experiences:

  • Proficient in Software and/or Programming (TIA Portal, WinCC, Studio5000, FactoryTalk, Labview, etc.)
  • Proficient with Programming languages (ladder, structured text, C, C++, etc.)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD software or electrical schematic design software

Work Environment:

  • This position is performed in a manufacturing environment, with some local travel between facilities.
