Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the material control function including inventory management, receiving, warehousing, logistics, and shipping for all Fairlead Divisions
  • Manage warehouse operations and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory while meeting production and customer requirements.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to track material control performance and drive accountability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling and control.
  • Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs; full authority over personnel actions; and directly responsible for training and development of staff.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, production control, program/project management and quality teams to implement long-term material delivery solutions and timely issuance to production.
  • Support audits, both internal and external, including inventory counts and documentation reviews.
  • Responsible for inventory cycle counts twice a year that comply with accounting requirements.
  • Owner of Customer/Government Furnished Material inventory storage, tracking, and control that is compliant with FAR and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of departmental processes, and a keen ability to plan, prioritize, and quickly solve problems in a compliant and reliable manner.

  • Implement and manage systems to track compliance with contractual flow down clauses.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accomplish all tasks as appropriate, assigned, or requested.
  • Participate in strategy discussions to include business approaches, cost considerations, and potential customer value.

Experience, Education, Certifications, and Licensure:

  • BS/BA degree in supply chain management, logistics, contracts, or business administration (education can be substituted for equivalent experience).
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in supply chain management, contract management, program management, finance, business administration or a combination of these areas.
  • Lean Six Sigma Training and/or certifications strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory control methodologies (e.g., JIT, Kanban, Cycle Counting).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Working experience with Deltek Cost Point preferred
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and present findings to senior management.
  • Solid judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to satisfy all position requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS 365; Experience with an enterprise system

Work Environment:
• This position is performed in a traditional Shipyard environment, with regular local travel between facilities.
• Some out-of-area travel may be required.
