Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for responding to and correcting customer quality issues
- Maintain and improve the company’s QMS in alignment with:
- NAVSEA Standard Items
- ISO 9001 / AS9100 (if applicable)
- Government and customer contract requirements
- Lead internal and external audits (NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, ABS, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications, including technical work documents and quality clauses
- Interface with government representatives (SUPSHIP, Regional Maintenance Centers, etc.)
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections, both in process and end item
- Measure and report various aspects of quality performance to management
- Perform receiving, shipping and packaging inspections
- Maintain certifications in preservation
- Hold a Level II visual inspection credential would be preferred
- Coordinate with Q/A on all quality issues and audits
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and approve Test and Inspection Plans for ship repair work packages.
Qualifications:
- Level II VT preferred
- NBT
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field or AA/AS plus 2 yrs directly related experience, or 6 yrs directly related experience
- Experience developing and maintaining TIPs, along with supporting Government or Customer inspections
- Technologically competent with the ability to learn and utilize the Oxalis and Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) systems
- General understanding and use of IMTE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to interface professionally with Government and Customer representatives
- VT Level II NDT certification preferred
- NBPI or NACE certification preferred

- While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to climb around and inside ships and use ladders is required.
Work Environment:
- This position is performed in a traditional office and shipyard environment, with some local travel between facilities and down river jobs.
