Summary:

The Technical Writer will produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of Fairlead’s products and services. You will work collaboratively with developers, engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to create content that is accurate, easy to understand, and tailored for the intended audience—whether internal teams, partners, or end users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering and project teams to gather information on complex systems, processes, and tools.
  • Translate highly technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Participate in design and engineering reviews to stay current on system architecture and changes.
  • Edit, format, and proofread documents for clarity, consistency, and grammar.
  • Support proposal development and documentation for project bids when required.
  • Organize documentation logically and ensure consistency in style, terminology, and tone.
  • Review and revise content based on stakeholder and user feedback.
  • Follow industry and internal documentation standards and style guides.
  • Maintain version control and manage documentation repositories.

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical writing or content development role.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical information to various audiences.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Markdown, or documentation platforms
  • Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative tools

While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a traditional office and manufacturing environment with local travel required between facilities.
