Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports various aspects of the quote development effort.
  • Creates the outline, builds templates, proofreads, prepares review drafts and final editions, schedules meetings and tracks the completion of assignments.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop quotations and gather the necessary information required for bid submission.
  • Reviews customer instructions, develops the style guide, and creates computer graphics.
  • Collates concept papers into a single body of work and ensures completed quotes are professional.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends.
  • Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts, soliciting new accounts, building rapport, and providing timely and relevant information.
  • Electronically open jobs to begin internal bid and/or award process.
  • Acknowledge Customer Purchase Orders and keep accurate filing of customer correspondence and direct communications.
  • Participates in special projects and proposals as assigned.
  • Coordinates on-site meetings with customers and potential clients.
  • Presentation of bid submission data.


  • BA/BS in a related academic field of study, or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience, or 8 years directly related experience.
  • Individuals with job experience, coursework, or specialized training in marketing, communications, writing, editing, and/or proofreading are highly preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Outstanding organizational skills to manage simultaneously occurring tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teambuilding skills
  • Keen eye for detail and skills in copy-editing, grammar, style, spelling, and
  • Knowledge of office productivity applications that contribute to the production of high caliber submissions.
  • Able to effectively work under pressure in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and produce complex, high-quality work products.

Primary work locations: 650 and 750 Chautauqua Ave, Portsmouth, VA.
