Essential Roles and Responsibilities for the Program Manager Position:
- Respond to inquiries and program requests from both internal and external customers
- Arrange and participate in both internal and external quality inspections (AC, Weld & NDT, Preservation, and Source)
- Identify all contractual elements necessary for the execution of work requirements including (but not limited to) CDRLS & SDRLS, milestones, labor by GLC, subcontract requirements, rentals, and material requirements
- Prepare requirements traceability matrix, work breakdown structure, and schedule in support of project development
- Perform material take off(s) and prepare requisitions for materials, subcontracts, and rentals in support of project development. Coordinate the receipt and inspection of CFM/GFM
- Track the financial and schedule performance of programs and projects using established EAC and EVMS methodology
- Prepare production schedules, build plans, and weld & NDT matrices
- Support customers with regular schedule updates
- Develop and implement routing and execution approach(s) for work requirements
- Resolve technical and schedule issues or conflicts with customers, vendors, and subcontractors as well as with contracts, engineering, planning, purchasing, production, and quality management
- Act as Fairlead Structures main customer POC for all awarded programs and projects
- Develop, lead, and task a small team of project managers
- Demonstrate professional, morally, and ethically sound behavior consistent with company and customer policies and ideals (the position requires access to and the development of sensitive technical and financial data)
- Develop rapport and professional working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other internal and external team members
Qualifications:
- BA/BS plus 10 years of directly related experience
- AA/AS plus 15 years of directly related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 20 years of directly related experience
- Documented U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass and hold various background checks and security clearances
- PMP cert and/or direct experience with Newport News Shipbuilding new vessel construction preferred
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with naval ship new construction, repair, and modernization
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and military and commercial specifications
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project), Open Plan (or similar scheduling software), and Adobe Acrobat
- The ability to learn and understand company accounting software and related enterprise systems
- Strong business math and verbal and written communication skills
This position is performed in a traditional office environment, with local travel between facilities. Primary work location is 201 Wavy Street, Portsmouth, VA.
