Operations Planning Manager

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage activities of the production scheduler, production controller, manufacturing and material planners
  • Work with process owners, engineering, and estimating to develop effective manufacturing work packages, accurate material requirements, proper manufacturing sequence and routings, and work procedures, to ensure production safely provides defect free products on time and on budget
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Contracts, Purchasing, Material Control, Production and QA Departments to execute production work
  • Ensure the production schedule meets demand required by the programmatic milestone schedule
  • Review all work packages prior to release to production
  • Participate in and occasionally lead reviews, audits and validation studies of planned process steps through surveillance and audits to ensure compliance to customer requirements
  • Develop material plans necessary to execute work to customer requirements
  • Lead development of material and build sequences used to plan and estimate customer RFQ’s and RFP’s
  • Ensure customer technical requirements are broken down and conveyed through work packages to enable production of product
  • Evaluate purchase orders to validate their accuracy, report delays to the production managers, and ensure all manufacture order requirements are fully met
  • Maintain configuration management of the technical data packages and manufacture orders released to the production floor
  • Manage and resolve all request forms (RF’s)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including overtime as required

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience reading and understanding blueprints and specifications, including special controlled processes as defined by internal standards, government standards, and regulatory and statutory standards
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft 360 suite
  • Must have scheduling experience using software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project (experience with Open Plan preferred)
  • Must have experience with ERP & MRP software (experience with Deltek CostPoint a preferred)
  • Must be a team oriented, dependable individual, who is knowledgeable about manufacturing processes used for work performed in a shop environment
  • Must have experience in a leadership role
  • BS degree in manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering a plus
  • Must have experience with Computer Aided Drawings (CAD) 2D/3D (Solidworks experience preferred)
  • AA/AS with 6 years of hands-on experience in several identified manufacturing processes defined in essential functions

Primary work location: 650 and 750 Chautauqua Avenue, Portsmouth, VA.
