Accounts Payable Assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform typing, transcription, and clerical duties as required
  • Interpret policies and procedures as established by superior
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are accurate
  • Draft financial as requested
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
  • Prepare electronic transfers and payments
  • Process expense reports
  • Set invoices up for payment
  • Review and verify invoices and check requests
  • Performs related duties as assigned


  • Ability to accurately perform difficult dictation and difficult typing duties
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and follow through on assigned tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to form strong relationships and communication channels across the organization
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively to customers and staff

Minimum Requirements:

2-5 years of clerical experience

While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a traditional shipyard environment with local travel between facilities and project locations as required.

Occasional travel outside of the local area may also be required in support of customers, vendors, suppliers, and other team members.
Both overtime and the remote possibility for shiftwork exist.
